To make it easier, I've eliminated any non YA books, meaning A Memory of Light or Blackmore or some other adult category book won't be here, which is sad, but it makes it easier to narrow down. I'm also excluding books that came out before 2013, even if that's the year I read them in, so it's only books released in 2013 that are in the running. Now, in no particular order, there's my personal top 5 books for 2013.

Okay, so I totally cheated and I can count, but when two amazing authors come out with two amazing books in the same year, I couldn't really choose. United we Spy tends to get more love because you have to wade through 7 books to finish it instead of Perfect Scoundrel's 3, but that didn't really seem fair since they're book excellent series. Then there's the two new series by Brandon Sanderson, both of which I'm super excited for, so I decided to cheat and choose one author but two books. Honestly, I'm not feeling all that sorry.
